I studied literature in school, and I made that decision entirely based on the fact that I would get to read about, talk about, and think about stories all the time. Now I specialize in content marketing—strategizing, editing, and writing it. And sure, I’m thinking about conversion goals and KPIs and distribution strategies and all the other critical components that I have to think about. But at my core, as the underlying foundation of everything I work on, I’m asking if we’re telling a good story.

Because I’ve learned from experience it almost doesn’t matter how good your copy is or how eye-catching your graphic when those elements are presented on their own. My readers are going to remember what they felt when they looked at it—so that’s what I want to focus on.
